Who it's for

Small businesses that want the numbers right and the admin gone.

  • Sole traders

Quarterly MTD updates become the rule for many sole traders from April 2026. Geldarts keeps the digital records and submits them when they're due.

  • Landlords

Rental income and expenses by property, mortgage interest recorded correctly, and property income kept separate as HMRC requires.

  • Small limited companies

A proper ledger, VAT returns and a clear position, without paying for features you'll never open.

  • Trades

Photograph receipts from the van and they're matched, categorised and stored. The books build themselves as you work.

  • Online sellers

Payouts reconciled to sales, fees and refunds, so VAT is right and margins are real.

  • Still on a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet stops counting as digital records under MTD. Geldarts is the smallest sensible step up, and moving across is part of getting started.

Meet Tally

Tally does the bookkeeping. You approve it.

Transactions arrive from the bank feed and Tally categorises them from context and your history. Receipts are read — date, total, VAT — and matched. Anything odd, a duplicate or an unusual amount, Tally flags before it becomes an error.

You review a short list, answer the odd question, and approve. Tally drafts the quarterly update and the VAT return from the ledger; nothing files without you, and the audit trail records what Tally did and what you approved.

Named for the tally sticks that kept England's accounts for six centuries.

Making Tax Digital

Quarterly updates to HMRC are now the rule. Geldarts is built around them.

From April 2026, anyone self-employed or letting property with income over £50,000 has to keep digital records and send HMRC an update every quarter. From April 2027 the threshold falls to £30,000.

That's four submissions a year instead of one, on deadlines that don't move. In Geldarts the records are already digital and Tally drafts each update from the ledger — you review, confirm, and it goes.
